‘Culleenamore Crystal Beach In February Light’
Arches ‘Not’ (cold pressed) paper 10 cm x 25 cm / 3.9 in x 9.8 in
A watercolour interpretation of how the light looked on the beach one February afternoon. These are the photos I took that day together with the finished watercolour.
Its painted in crystals. I used (genuine) Garnet, Malachite, Hematite and Tiger's Eye. The yellow colour isn't a crystal paint. As always with my work, the light is the white paper.
You can really see the beautiful texture of the Arches paper here. Also the granulation of the Hematite and Tiger's Eye watercolour which I love. The Garnet is very fine milled and doesn't granulate (separate and settle) as much.
